Google Maps is now available for iPhone / iOS 5.1 and Higher

Now iPhone user can use Google Maps to discover great places to eat, drink, shop and play, with ratings and reviews from people you trust. Navigate your world with Google Maps, now obtainable for iPhone. Get inclusive, accurate and easy to use maps with additional features likes built in Google local search, voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, public transport directions, Street View and more. More over sign in to save your preferred places and hastily access all your past searches and directions from your computer, right on your iPhone. The new Google Maps app is obtainable for the iPhone and iPod touch fourth generation, iOS 5.1 and higher, in more than 40 countries and in 29 languages, counting Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish, as per Google said.

The app has been optimized for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 Google held the free app has been designed from the ground up "to combine the comprehensiveness and accuracy of Google Maps with an interface that makes finding what you're looking for faster and easier." Google also released Wednesday a Google Maps SDK (software development kit) for iOS for developers to feature Google Maps in their applications for the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad. An iOS app can also launch the Google Maps for iPhone app using a URL scheme, which allows for the launch of a native iOS application from one more iOS app or a Web application.
