Nokia Asha 501 launched In India for $99, to run on new Asha platform



Nokia has released Asha 501, the first phone from a new family of Asha phones that will run a revamped operating system that Nokia is calling the Asha platform.

The Nokia Asha 501 will start shipping in June, and will be available through around 60 operators and distributors in over 90 countries

The Nokia Asha 501 phone's price is $99, but will be free on network price plans (we'd suppose at the lower end of the scale). It will come in black, white, green, red, blue and yellow and will appear in the UK sometime towards the end of summer. Stephen Elop confirmed that it will hit India first, incoming next month.

The smartphone has a lot of  pre installed apps such as Facebook, Twitter. Nokia has counterfeit a special deal with Facebook to ensure that users can share photos directly to Facebook. The smartphone also comes with the Nokia Xpress Browser. Other apps include FourSquare, Bejeweled 3, Plants vs. Zombies.
