Low cost smart phones effected feature phones in India

Research firm IDC says, lower price mobile device from domestic handset makers, smartphone sales in india 12.8 million units in third quater of 2013 in smartphone market.

According to IDC, Indian smartphone market grew by 229% year on year. In third quarter 2013, 12.8 million smartphone sales compare to 3.8 million units in third quarter of 2012. Smartphone sales grew 28% in Q3 of 2013 compared to April-June 2013.

A smartphone is more advance capabilities and connectivity than a feature phone because a smartphone is a mobile device that built on mobile operating system.

IDC India Research Manager Kiran Kumar said "The change agents for this rapid shift of consumer preference towards Smartphones have been the narrowing price gap between feature phones and smartphones".

The south Korean company Samsung lead the handset market with 15.3% share. Also other smartphone companies Nokia, Micromax and Karnonn lead their market with 14.7%, 10.1% and 9.1& share respectively.
