LinkedIn, Pinterest more popular than Twitter among US adults



US adults use LinkedIn and Pinterest more than Twitter because that websites attracts more young adults. According to survey, the photo pin-up site Pinterest got more popularity over the past year. About 21 Percent of respondents said they employ the service up to 15 percent in similar survey conducted a year ago.

They figure was 22 percent for Linkedin and 18 percent for twitter, holding steady from a year ago. About 29 percent of the blacks surveyed of Twitter, well above 16 percent for whites, the study showed.

Twitter ranks higher than Pinterest, however 46 percent of users surveyed on the online messaging service and 23 percent for Pinterest and 13 percent for LinkedIn. Industry experts have said Twitter is less intuitive than facebook and thus can turn off users.

According to a Reuter’s poll, 36 percent of 1,067 people who have joined twitter and 7 percent say they have shut their account. In contrast only 7 percent of 2,449 Facebook member report not using the online social network and 5 percent say they have shut their account. The Pew study poll said that Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest are five of the largest in US.

About 71 percent of respondents said they used facebook, up from 67 percent a year earlier and getting highest popularity ranking. The Pew study said "Facebook is the dominant social networking platform in the number of users, but a striking number of users are now diversifying onto other platforms" and also added that "Pinterest holds particular appeal to female users, and LinkedIn is especially popular among college graduates and Internet users in higher-income households".
